Acer Aspire e1-510 - Legacy bios option available (BIOS v2.07)

Do you want to install Windows 7 or any Linux distro on your Acer Aspire E1-510 ????

Then follow these simple steps to install Windows 7 on Acer Aspire e1-510 :

Update 2014-05-23 : Acer finally gave us an official bios that includes the "legacy bios" mode... Please use this file (bios v2.11) :

 1. Download the file E1-510BIOS.Zip from the below FTP site :

           URL : ftp://ftp.acer.co.in 
          User name: ailtech 
          Password: at68tech 
          Folder name: E1-510BIOS 

          (Mirror : HERE )

2. Make the pen drive ready by formatting with Fat-32 file system

 3. Extract the file E1-510BIOS.zip to the USB pen drive, which will create a bootable pendrive.

 4. Connect the pen drive to E1-510 notebook where the BIOS have to be updated.

 5. Ensure that the notebook is plugged with the AC adapter and the battery is also having the charge of 40%.

 6. Press F12 and power on the notebook to select the Boot option.

 7. Select USB Boot and press enter, Notebook will boot from the USB Pen drive with the command prompt window. 

 8. Type C: which will be the root of the Thumb drive. 

 9. Type Z5WE3207W.exe which will start updating the BIOS. 

 10. Follow the steps displayed in the screen.

 11. After completing the BIOS update the Notebook will take 1 minute to power on. 

 12. Press F2 and get into the BIOS setup. 

 13. In the BOOT Menu there will be the option for UEFI / Legacy mode 

 14. To load Windows 7 change to legacy mode.

    1. Funcionou perfeitamente no meu notebook. Eu baixei o arquivo, extrair no meu computador e executei o instalador (o meu note estava com o Win8). Demorou um pouco, mais após reiniciar a bios estava atualizada e com a opção "Legacy BIOS" disponível. Para o pessoal que está com o linux, podem seguir o passo-a-passo citado anteriormente para criar um pendrive de boot. Obrigado a todos pela ajuda, especialmente a NOX SIXN que disponibilizou o arquivo para download. Falow...

  3. It works very well. Basically it updates BIOS from 205 to 207 which has the AHCI option available.

    3. Dupa ce ai introdus stick`ul in laptop, baga si un cd bootabil cu win 7. Foloseste comenzile date mai sus si o sa se incarce automat windowsu de pe CD dupa ce se updateaza BIOS`ul ... E simplu--> urmareste instructiunile de mai sus

    5. I had the same problem and someone here pointed out to read the SOP.docx file first that's in the Patch_Acer_BIOS_2.11_Shell folder. In there it says to use fs1: as the drive letter instead and that worked for me :)

  25. Hi, it worked for me and I'm very grateful for that, thanks! But I'm trying to install graphics/VGA driver for my Acer Aspire E1-510 and I can't find it (Windows 7 64 bit). Could you tell me how you managed to install it? I can't even change the brightness without this driver. Thanks in advance!

  27. ohh well it looks like i found solution. i just found in acer support website http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers in BIOS tab i just download the file "Enable BIOS legacy mode" then boom

    Your pc needs to be repaired

    The digital signature for this file couldnt be verified.

    Error code: 0xc0000428

    You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. if you dont have any installation
    media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system adminiistrator or pc manufacturer.

    Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings

  39. Hi Folks, had trouble to use this... But finaly i got it to work. Ignore the Steps 1-15 above... UnZip the file you Download, there is a SOP.docx file read it and follow instruction you find there... Those at the start of this Post dont work. The Update works fine got ver 2.11 installed and can set Legacy mode now...

  43. Very useful information. Thank you very much. Successfully installed windows 7. In my case, it didn't prompt for step 8 & 9. It just asked to say "yes" or "no" to create a live boot USB, after saying yes, it took some time to finished.Then changed boot option to legacy & boot priority and finally installed windows 7.

  47. I just thought I'd add that I didn't need to do anything special to install Xubuntu 14.04 on this laptop. It supported UEFI boot mode just fine. All I had to do was to stick it on a USB drive using usb-creator-gtk on another Linux system (actually I used an SD Card in an external SD Card reader, but it's the same thing) and press F12 when booting the laptop to boot from it.
